Justin Dawson, MD - Physician Who Supports Healthy Communities

A practicing family physician since 2002, Justin Dawson, MD, has served the Pocahontas, Arkansas, community as a family practice physician at Pocahontas Medical Clinic. In addition to his work with the clinic, Dr. Justin "Drew" Dawson has used his medical expertise to help other communities across the country and the world.

Throughout his career, Dr. Justin "Drew" Dawson has shown his commitment to supporting healthy communities by volunteering to help residents, including the 24 years he provided local high school and college students with free annual physical exams. His volunteering extends to working with medical students and residents at the Pocahontas Medical Clinic. He has presented topics on the dangers of smoke inhalation to firefighters and first responders.

In 2005, his volunteering took him to the Gulf Coast, where he served as a first responder during Hurricane Katrina. When everyone returned to their lives, Dr. Dawson remained behind and launched First Response Physicians, an organization that assisted Bay St. Louis residents with recovering from the storm the year following the natural disaster.

Internationally, Dr. Dawson provided medical care to residents in Belize City, Belize, in 2007. In 2017 and 2018, he visited Bogota, Colombia, where he provided residents living in coastal villages and remote Amazon towns with healthcare.

Presently, Dr. Dawson is a physician-member of the Randolph County Disaster Preparedness Committee, the American Academy of Family Physicians, and the Arkansas Medical Society. His interests outside of medicine and volunteering are bass fishing and deer and duck hunting.
